THE driver of a red pick-up truck and its passengers are being sought as part of a murder investigation.

Guisborough biker Sonny Stephenson died after being fatally injured in a crash on Bolckow Street at around 9.15pm on Sunday, August 27.

A murder investigation was launched and 34-year-old Matthew Philip Buckworth – of Charlton Garth in Guisborough – has since been charged in connection with the 17-year-old’s death.

Police are now attempting to identify the driver and passengers of a red pick-up which drove up Park Lane towards Bolckow Street and which was travelling in front of the motorbike ridden by Sonny and his pillion passenger.

Cleveland Police released a CCTV image showing the vehicle approaching the junction of Park Lane and Hollymead Drive at around the time of the crash.

A spokeswoman for the force said: “We would like to establish if the driver and/or any passengers saw or heard anyone or anything as they approached the location of the incident.

“Another person who could have vital information was walking up Park Lane in the direction of Bolckow Street at around 9.15pm. “CCTV shows them crossing the road at the TA Centre and heading towards Whitwell Terrace. This person is described as slim and wearing dark clothing.”
