A 34-year-old man is still be questioned by police in connection with the murder and attempted murder of two teenagers travelling on a motorbike.

Cleveland Police said they had made the arrest following the death of Sonny Stephenson, 17, who was involved in a collision just after 9.15pm on Sunday on Bolckow Street in Guisborough.

Emergency services were called out on Sunday, but Sonny was pronounced dead at the scene. A pillion passenger was taken to James Cook University Hospital with minor injuries.

"Police are continuing to interview a 34-year-old local man in connection with the murder and attempted murder of two youths travelling on a motorcycle just after 9.15pm on Sunday, August 27, on Bolckow Street in Guisborough," said a force spokesman.

"Sonny Stephenson died at the scene and a 15-year-old youth who was also travelling on the motorcycle has now been discharged from James Cook University Hospital.

"Police are still appealing for witnesses who were in the area around the time of the incident and in particular, a person walking their dog just prior to the collision at around 9.15pm to contact Cleveland Police on 101."
