DRIZZLE failed to dampen the generosity of families visiting the coast for a fundraising RNLI lifeboat day.
The annual event was hosted over the weekend including two Redcar RNLI lifeboats going on display on the town’s High Street before lifeguards performed a rescue demonstration.
More than £2,760 was donated towards the lifesaving work carried out by the RNLI along the North-East coast.
Dave Cocks, Redcar’s lifeboat operations manager, said: “We are a busy lifeboat station and we’ve already had 40 launches this year. We try and raise locally every penny we spend saving lives – the busier we are, the harder we have to work at fundraising.
“We enjoy fantastic support from the community in which we are based.”
