A SEARCH for a five-year-old girl seen walking along a seafront shortly after 7.30am today has been scaled down.
Police say they received a report from a member of the public that the young girl was walking alone along the Coast Road in Redcar this morning at around 7.40am.
CCTV was being scoured for evidence of either the girl or mother.
A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: "This morning officers received a call from a concerned member of the public that he had seen a young girl aged around 5-years-old walking along the Coast Road in Redcar.
"Police in Redcar have carried out thorough investigations and searches however they have now scaled back these investigations, pending any new information coming to light.
"There have been no reports of missing children in the Redcar area or any other calls relating to a missing girl."
- Anyone who may have seen the child or anyone with information is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101.
