A SUSPECTED "skimming" device has been recovered from a cashpoint in Middlesbrough.
Officers are warning people to be vigilant when using cash machines after the discovery at the ATM at Tesco Express on Oxford Road at 11pm on Sunday.
Skimming devices are used to read cash cards and obtain details and they can also video a person using a cash machine.
They may also record PIN numbers, and they are very hard to distinguish from a genuine cash point.
- Anyone who may have information regarding the device recovered on Oxford Road is asked to contact PC Sean Parkin or anyone who thinks they may have located a skimming device on a machine is asked to contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
