RSPB Saltholme is inviting the public along to a weekend celebrating all things woolly, as their flock of Shetland sheep get their annual haircut at the popular Woolly Weekend event.
Visitors over the weekend can get to grips with what happens to the fleece after the sheep no longer need it, with examples of spinning and weaving from the experts at the Durham Guild of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers.
There is also woolly workshops, a Quest for the Golden Fleece and examples of modern and traditional sheep shearing techniques.
Entry to Saltholme is free for RSPB members and £5 per car for non-members. Additional charges for activities apply.
