INCIDENT: A person has died after being hit by a train
A PERSON has died after being hit by a train.
British Transport Police were called to the scene in Billingham following the incident at 11.40am.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "Officers attended alongside paramedics but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Officers will now look to identify the person and inform their family.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be be prepared for the coroner."
National Rail said trains were delayed until around 2pm.
