A MAN who stored more than 91,000 indecent images of children on computer equipment was told by a judge that he was helping to create a market for child abuse.

The 91,098 images belonging in a single category to Paul Delhoy represent one of the biggest hauls seen in the region’s courts.

Delhoy, 51, of Laburnum Road, Redcar, also had 244 “extreme” porn images, involving an adult woman and animals, and 34 said to be in the worst category of harm.

He admitted three counts of making indecent images and possessing extreme porn.

Prosecuting at Teesside Crown Court, Emma Atkinson said the mountain of images were collected by Delhoy between December 2011 and December 2015.

Kelleigh Lodge, mitigating, said the defendant had taken steps to address his issues by enrolling on a ten week course with a child protection charity.

She said: “He is genuinely sorry and there has been no offending since.

“He has been suspended from his job and thinks he is going to lose it.”

Judge Peter Armstrong said he could suspend the jail sentence on Delhoy because of a lack of previous convictions and there being no distribution of the material.

He was said to be of low risk of reoffending.

The judge told the defendant: “The downloading of such images is a form of child abuse. Those who look at images of this nature are creating a market for it.”

Delhoy was given an eight month jail sentence suspended for two years, with 35 days rehabilitation.

He will have to abide by the terms of a ten year sexual harm prevention order and pay £300 costs.
