CCTV or dashcam footage could help police track down two ‘dangerous rapists’ who abducted a woman and her toddler from Redcar seafront last Friday.

A team of detectives is currently scouring CCTV footage from across the area after two men snatched the woman and child from a busy area between Redcar’s boating lake and the Regent Cinema.

After being dragged screaming into a dark-coloured saloon car at around 11.30am, the woman was taken to the isolated Longbeck Lane, near Yearby where she was raped by both men in close proximity to her toddler.

She was forced out of the car several hours later on Kirkleatham Lane, close to Kirkleatham Museum.

In their efforts to trace those responsible for the horrendous attack, Cleveland Police officers – who are still carrying out high visibility patrols in the area - are now encouraging people with private CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward.

Anyone who may have seen a woman and child close to the Lakes Estate or in the Yearby area between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on Friday, March 3.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Steve Young, from the Cleveland and North Yorkshire Major Investigation Team, said: “Five days on from this incident, a dedicated team of detectives is continuing with enquiries and are still painstakingly trawling through hours of CCTV.

“I would like to make a direct appeal to anyone who may have seen the victim being forced out of a dark-coloured saloon close to the Lakes Estate on Friday evening or a female and a toddler in that area at that particular time.”
