A RAPIST who kept women captive in his home as sex slaves and hid a schoolgirl behind a false wall is facing a lengthy prison sentence.

Abuser Michael Dunn also groomed two teenagers - convincing the naive youngsters they were in a relationship with him - and raped another as she slept.

Dunn, 57, created a "hidey-hole" behind a fridge and shoved one of his teenage victims in there when police visited looking for the runaway, a court heard.

Details of the harrowing ordeals emerged during a trial at Teesside Crown Court where Dunn was found guilty of a catalogue of horrific crimes.

He was described by prosecutor Richard Bennett as "a violent, controlling and sexually abusive man" who "had sex when he wanted".

The court heard how he padlocked doors from the outside to keep his victims locked in rooms at his home.

During his evidence, he insisted none of the claims made by the complainants - now all adult - were true, and none of it happened.

Dunn showed no remorse as the verdicts were announced, simply shaking his head as he was found guilty of one of 11 rape charges he faced.

Mr Bennett said Dunn "took advantage for his own gratification" and told the court: "Both women were his possessions to do with what he wanted."

Dunn was convicted of ten rapes, three charges of false imprisonment and three of sexual assault, and was cleared of on rape and making threats to kill.

He was physically and sexually violent to the two adults, and his offending stretched across five decades, a jury heard.

He had lived in Liverton Mines, east Cleveland, before moving to Manchester, Cambridgeshire, Gateshead, Ludworth in County Durham, and back to Dormanstown and nearby Redcar.

Dunn, whose "performance" in the witness box during the 13-day trial was described by his own barrister as "moronic" is likely to be sentenced next month.

Defence lawyer Rod Hunt said he wanted prison authorities to prepare a medical report on him, and the Probation Service to do a background report.

Judge Tony Briggs remanded Dunn, of Alfred Street, Redcar, in custody until his next appearance.
