A TEENAGER was threatened by a man wielding a broken bottle.

Police are appealing for information after the 19-year-old man was robbed as he crossed West Dyke Road in Redcar.

"The incident occurred on Sunday, November 27 between 4am and 4.30am when the victim was passing the Racecourse Wine Lodge when he was approached by an unknown man," said a spokeswoman for Cleveland Police.

"The man threatened the victim with a broken bottle and demanded for him to hand over money. The victim handed over £10 and the suspect headed off towards Redcar town centre.

"It is believed the suspect was scruffy in appearance and was wearing a bright blue sweatshirt - possibly Adidas - and dark coloured trousers.

"He is a white man, of average build, around 5ft 8ins tall and in his late 30s with a shaven head. He is also described as having a strong southern accent."

The victim was uninjured from the incident.
