A JUDGE said there were “troubling aspects” in the case of a man who admitted making indecent photos of children.

The Recorder of Middlesbrough, Judge Simon Bourne-Arton made his comments after hearing about a caution Daniel Richardson had previously received for sexual activity with a young boy.

More than 150 indecent images were found on a laptop belonging to Richardson in December 2014 which led police to begin an investigation.

Richardson, 23, of Albion Terrace, Saltburn, east Cleveland, admitted three counts of making indecent photos and appeared at Teesside Crown Court to be sentenced.

John Nixon, mitigating, said: “The court is dealing with a young man who has serious intellectual deficits.”

Judge Bourne-Arton said Richardson had substantial difficulties and had got sexual gratification from the images of children aged 11 to 14.

He gave him a two year community order with a supervision requirement. The defendant will also be subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.
