SMALL children were among those involved in a three-car crash near Redcar this morning.

A blue BMW, a blue Mini Cooper and a silver VW Polo collided on Kirkleatham Lane at 10.37am.

An ambulance was called and arrived at the scene within two minutes.

A spokeswoman for the North East Ambulance Service said two patients were treated at the scene for minor injuries, and one was taken to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough. It is not known the ages of the injured people at this stage, but one was the male driver of the BMW. It is believed the children were in the Polo and the Mini.

More details are expected to follow.
