THE body of a missing east Cleveland woman has found in woodland.

Pat Kettlewell, 64, from Lingdale, had not been seen since she caught a bus to Guisborough on Saturday morning.

Members of Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team located a body in Guisborough Forest on Tuesday morning using a specially trained search dog.

Team spokesman Pete Mounsey said: “This was a tricky search through some very overgrown areas of the forest. Our thoughts are with members of the lady’s family at this difficult time.”

Cleveland Police believe the body to be that of the missing woman but a formal identification is yet to take place.

A force spokeswoman said: "Officers are supporting Pat’s family and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time. We are still trying to trace a woman who was seen to help Pat to her feet after she had fallen over on Saturday, August 20, at around 9am before walking with Pat towards Belmangate."

The woman who helped her is described as being white, under 30, 5ft 8ins tall with dark hair and she was walking a small dog.

Anyone with information is asked to call Cleveland Police on 101.
