A CELEBRATION of woodland life is set to attract thousands of people to a 900 acre beauty spot in the foothills of the North Yorks Moors.

Organised by the Friends of Guisborough Forest and Walkway, with support from Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council and the Forestry Commission, there will be more than 100 artists, musicians, wildlife demonstrations and craftspeople taking part in the event on Sunday, September 11.

Ranger Neil Thirkell said: “The area is a hotbed of traditional crafts and the festival provides them with a great showcase as well as being a huge celebration of the great outdoors in a stunning location. Last year nearly 4,000 revellers turned up and rustic attractions this time round will include horse loggers, bushcraft experts, coracle makers, willow weavers and rope turners.”

People will be encouraged to try something new, such as wood turning, which uses a hand operated lathe dating back hundreds of years to make household items.

Also making an appearance will be the Gruffalo striding through the forest to delight youngsters, together with circus skills and climbing wall.

A free park and ride bus service to the festival will operate from Fountain Street car park on Rectory Lane, Guisborough. No parking will be available at the Pinchinthorpe entrance to the forest, except for disabled visitors. Other parking arrangements will be signed on the day. Admission is £12 family ticket – two adults, two children – or £4 adults and £3 children.
