A COMMUNITY craft workshop is creating pieces to sell at this year’s Festival of Thrift.
Larchfield Craft, based at the Larchfield Community Farm near Hemlington, Middlesbrough, is using recycled offcuts of material, t-shirts and donated wood to create cushions, rugs and painted herb boxes.
Larchfield is a Camphill Trust site, a charity which offers opportunities for people with learning difficulties, mental health problems and other special needs.
This year those in its craft workshop are also making colourful felt hangings made using wool from the farm for the festival, which is being held at a new venue in Kirkleatham this year, on September 17 and 18.
Sarah Fishburn, who heads the craft team at Larchfield Community in Hemlington, near Middlesbrough, said that last year’s Festival of Thrift had been a wonderful event for the team and raised valuable revenue that was ploughed back into the running of the craft workshops. We were completely blown away by the event.”
