A DANGEROUS driver who collided separately with three vehicles begged a judge to be sentenced, but was told he would have to wait.

Joe Lowther’s reckless driving, which involved smashing into a Renault Megane, only stopped finally in Lord Street, Redcar, as a result of damage to his own car, Teesside Crown Court heard.

Lowther was due to sentenced, but prosecutor Penny Bottomley said there was not sufficient information to be presented before the court about the incident on May 17 this year, while victim impact statements from some of those involved were also lacking.

The 32-year-old, who had recently been recalled to prison, pleaded with Judge Peter Armstrong and asked: “Is there no way I can be sentenced today? That is why I went to guilty [to dangerous driving], I did not want to waste any time.

“It would be lovely to be sentenced.”

But Judge Armstrong said he was afraid the case would have to be adjourned.

He added: “It will be noted that the delay is not your fault. If there is any time being lost as far as your sentence is concerned it can be adjusted down to take that into account.”

Lowther, of Pontefract Road, Castleford, West Yorkshire, was remanded back into custody until August 4.
