TWO lifeboats were launched in the early hours of this morning after reports that a person was in the sea at Redcar.
Crews from Redcar RNLI were scrambled at 12:47am before carrying out a three-hour off-shore search in a bid to rescue anyone in difficulty.
However the search was called off as dawn began to break after crew members were unable to find anything in the water.
In May and June this year, Redcar RNLI were called out to two incidents after receiving reports of people that had gone missing or had been spotted in the sea.
Both occasions were false alarms.
