A GROUP who work tirelessly to ensure their town is as colourful as possible has received a financial boost just in time for spring.

Guisborough Town Pride has received £250 in sponsorship as part of a community appeal by local retirement housebuilder, McCarthy and Stone.

The charity sources and maintains plants throughout the year, working tirelessly to ensure the town and surrounding areas are well looked after. The donation will go towards sustainable planting on Westgate.

Lorna Buckle, of the group, said: “Donations of this kind are extremely important to us – we are completely self-funded, so without them our small number of dedicated and hard-working volunteers wouldn’t be able to carry out the tremendous work that they do in Guisborough.

"Practical support from local businesses such as McCarthy and Stone means that we can continue to put in the year-round effort for everyone in Guisborough to enjoy.”

Liz Green, regional sales and marketing director at McCarthy and Stone North East, added: “Guisborough Town Pride do such a fantastic job in the area, and we’re delighted to be able to donate to such a worthy cause.”
