THREE companies have indicated guilty pleas after a worker suffered ‘life changing’ injuries while working on the Wilton International site.

Dennis Chadwick, who suffered significant damage to the lower half of his right leg as a result of the incident in December 2013, has to regularly attend hospital for treatment for is injuries.

His employer, R&A Kay Inspection Services Ltd, are charged with breaching Health and Safety regulations during a pressure test of the Wilton 10 boiler on the site near Redcar.

Also charged in connection with the incident are plant owner Sembcorp Utilities and contractors Central Industrial Services.

Legal representatives of all three indicated that written guilty pleas had been submitted when they appeared before Teesside Magistrates Court today (Wednesday, January 27).

District Judge Martin Walker decided that case should be sentenced at Teesside Crown Court once a separate hearing has determined the level of guilt of the three companies.

Mr Chadwick, who attended court on crutches more than two years after the incident, is still an employee of R&A Kay Inspection Services Ltd, which is based on Coniscliffe Road, Darlington.

The sentencing will take place on a date yet to be confirmed.
