AN ANNUAL event to raise awareness of the rights of carers is taking place in Redcar tomorrow (Friday, November 20).

The event, to mark Carers Rights Day, is organised by Carers Together in partnership with Redcar & Cleveland council, at the 25K Youth Community Centre in the town.

It aims to bring together carers and support organisations to help carers find out how to get the support they are entitled to, whether it is financial or practical support.

There will be a series of presentations and table discussions during the course of the day.

Councillor David Walsh, cabinet member for adults at Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council said: “Caring can bring all kinds of challenges, so we want to make it as easy as possible for carers to have access to the information and support that is on offer.

“Carers help make a significant contribution to our society and we will continue to look at ways to improve their lives to show how much we value their dedication and commitment.”

Mayor of Redcar and Cleveland, Cllr Brenda Forster will be attending the event.

She said: “I am looking forward to attending on Friday and to help raise awareness of the needs of carers with decision makers, professionals and the public.”

The event begins at 12noon and finishes at 2pm, at the 25K Youth Community Centre in Redcar.

Anyone wanting to attend can contact Carers Together on 01642 488977.
