THE Green Flag Award will be flying over three country parks in Redcar and Cleveland marking them out as some of the best in the country.

Flatts Lane Woodland Country Park, Guisborough Forest & Walkway and Saltburn Valley Gardens are among a record-breaking 1,582 parks and green spaces that have received the Award this year.

A Green Flag flying overhead is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest possible standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent facilities.

Cllr Carl Quartermain, cabinet member for jobs, skills and leisure at Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive three Green Flag Awards from Keep Britain Tidy.

“These awards recognise and highlight that people in the borough are benefitting from green spaces of the very highest quality.”

International Green Flag Award scheme manager Paul Todd said: “We are delighted to be celebrating another record-breaking year for the Green Flag Award scheme. All the flags flying this year are a testament to the efforts of the thousands of men and women, both staff and volunteers, who work tirelessly to maintain the high standards demanded by the award.”
