KEEN golfers could get the chance to play with professionals as part of a charity tournament with Cleveland Police.

The force is again teaming up with TFM's Cash for Kids to raise money for charities through its annual golf tournament.

Each team of two players is partnered with a police officer and a category one player, which in the past has included professional golfers such as Neil Hunter-Smith.

The tournament, which has raised thousands for charity in the past, takes place on Friday, September 4 at Wynyard Golf Club.

Previously, money has been donated to the cancer unit at the University Hospital of North Tees, North East Air Ambulance and South Cleveland Heart Fund.

Inspector Mick Jackson, who helps to organise the event, said: “This is the 29th annual Am-Am tournament which has helped to raise thousands of pounds for local charities and good causes over the years.

“As well as raising cash, it is also fun for those involved and we’d love to get a few more teams signed up. The day includes a half-way house, three course meal and extensive prize table for the top five teams."

Stephanie Simpson, from TFM’s Cash for Kids, said: “We have worked with Cleveland Police on this event for the last five years and it is a fantastic venue to enjoy a day of golf and support our charity.”
