THE (model) show went on at Kirkleatham Museum today (Sunday, July 26) after a burst pipe caused the famous museum to close yesterday.

The Model Show, which displays model aeroplanes, trains and boats made from meccano and kits, was expected to attract big crowds to Kirkleatham Museum near Redcar on Saturday.

However a burst pipe in the grounds meant that the museum had to close because toilets and water could not be provided.

The museum re-opened today and staff were relieved that big crowds attended.

Member of staff Sharon Robinson said: "A colleague has just been over to say what a good turn-out we've had. It's been busy all day.

"It was a shame yesterday, especially in the holidays when we've a big event like that, so we're really pleased that it has been so successful today."
