FAMILIES earned their seaside ice-creams at the weekend by taking part in Redcar's annual Lemon Top Relay race.
Teams of four took part in the race, named after Redcar's famous ice-cream topped with lemon sorbet, and winning teams were given a token for a free ice cream.
Other fun events organised by Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council for the first Saturday of the summer holidays included pebble painting, a sandcastle competition and donkey rides.
Councillor Carl Quartermain, cabinet member for jobs, skills and leisure at Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council said: "The popularity of this event is growing, and we’re so pleased to be hosting events like this which brings families and friends together on Redcar beach."
