A COMMUNITY group is working hard to give Saltburn's century-old cemetery a new lease of life.
The Friends of Saltburn Cemetery has raised money, including through grants, which has resulted in seating being provided for the first time and wrought-iron railings being fitted along Marske Road.
Now the group is seeking the community's help to apply for £5,000 through an internet-voting scheme with the One Family Foundation.
This would be spent on a new gate for the lawned area, which would become a memorial garden.
"Every vote sent through the foundation's website is important. Please would people vote from Tuesday June 2 to Saturday June 20," said friends' secretary Deana Jefferson.
Ward councillor Stuart Smith, who is supporting the group's efforts, welcomed the new "visual impact" being made, including plans for creating a memorial garden, new paths and new trees.
