HOMEWORK has taken on an extra dimension for creative pupils at Redcar’s Lakes Primary School.

In a bid to further develop the school’s links with parents, youngsters have been taking various projects home with the aim of getting their parents involved.

As the latest results have proved, families are really engaging with the various topics, so helping Ings Farm towards its aim of securing the new Leading Parent Partnership Award.

Some of the models are so good, they have even gone on display in a studio at the Redcar Beacon.

The latest topics for reception and nursery classes have included 'Down at the Bottom of the Garden', which produced lots of work based on minibeasts, and a futuristic 'To Infinity and Beyond', with a futuristic array of models, mobiles and rockets created.

Other items brought in have included wooden Roman swords and even mummified Barbie dolls.

Deputy headteacher Lauren Furness said: “These projects are made up of activities that encourage pupils and parents to work together and have seen phenomenal success, with families producing many wonderful and elaborate creations.

“So many of our parents and children have really been going that extra mile.”
