TWO men were bitten in an apparent assault in East Cleveland.

Police are appealing for information after the incident in Loftus.

"The incident happened on Thursday, April 30, at around 11.30pm at the junction of the High Street and Dam Street in Loftus," said a spokeswoman for Cleveland Police.

"Two 39-year-old men were allegedly assaulted. The first victim received a fractured cheek bone and was bitten to the mouth and head, leaving him requiring stitches.
"The second victim received bruising to the face and was bitten on the nose. Both victims were treated at James Cook University Hospital and were later discharged."

A 29 year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
