THE Archbishop of York has been on a whistlestop tour of the region, visiting schools, police and Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team.

Dr John Sentamu spent time with Cleveland Police before heading to All Saints Church of England Academy at Ingleby Barwick and Redcar and Cleveland College.

At All Saints Church of England Academy he helped to celebrate its recent ‘outstanding’ Ofsted result with students and staff.

Kevin Mann, All Saints’ principal, said: “It is always a great pleasure to greet Archbishop Sentamu on the occasions he is able to visit All Saints Academy. Our students and staff look forward to the visit and the opportunity to share their experiences, including the recent Ofsted inspection, with him.”

In the afternoon, he visited Redcar and Cleveland College’s new Oil and Gas Academy before meeting members of Cleveland Mountain Rescue, which is celebrating its 50th birthday this year.

Later, he gave the first of a new lecture series, ‘Cleveland Matters’, at St Barnabas Church, Linthorpe.

The Archbishop said: "Cleveland Matters’ is important. God wants all of us to flourish, and we need to take responsibility for one another if we are to see that flourishing happen and become a force for good in our local communities and beyond. None of us is left out."
