THE sun shone brightly when a team of young people from a community group braved the bracing North Sea to raise money for Comic Relief 2015.

Members of Hemlington’s Linx project ran into the sea at Redcar beach today (Wednesday, April 8) as part of their fundraising campaign as a belated Red Nose Day inspired challenge.

With ten teenagers and two staff taking part, the event was a way for the group to pay back some of the support it has enjoyed over the years from the charity.

Hemlington Detached Youth Work Project Ltd, based at the Recreation Centre on Cass House Road, receives funding from Comic Relief, which supports groups and organisations across the country.

Tamara Robinson, a youth worker from Linx, said: “The young people benefit greatly and have been enthusiastic about giving something back.”

The group marked their achievement by going for a fish and chip lunch and making a visit to the amusement arcades before the big dip.

Comic Relief helps to support young and older, especially people who face disadvantage, particularly in areas with high levels of deprivation.
