A DOZEN youths have been quizzed by police after a large grass fire devastated a well-known beauty spot.
Cleveland Police interviewed 12 youngsters under caution over the weekend in connection with last week's fires on Eston Hills.
Firefighters spent several hours tackling the blaze on Eston Hills, near Middlesbrough, on Sunday, March 8 from about 4pm.
A large area of the north side of the hills was on fire and the incident was treated as arson - with a group of youths suspected of starting the blaze.
The police helicopter was called to assess the scene and search for suspects.
Eston's Neighbourhood Police Team said inquiries were continuing after speaking to the youths and said: "This would not have been possible without the assistance and information provided by the community in response to our appeal for information.
"We thank all members of the community who provided us with valuable information. More interviews are expected in the coming week."
