A CHARITY fundraiser has called into a hospice to see how the money he raised for a cause close to his heart has been invested.

Mike Findley MBE donated £2,000 to Teesside Hospice to purchase Virtual Skylights for its complimentary therapy suite.

The former Mayor of Redcar, created the Mike Findley MND Trust after he was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2005, attended the Hospice’s day care service for a period of time.

Today (Wednesday, March 4) Mr Findley joined the hospice's clinical team leader, Yvonne Cochrane, to celebrate the completion of the installation.

She said “Mike’s determination to live with MND and raise funds and awareness for others who are suffering is truly inspirational. We are so grateful for everything he’s done for Teesside Hospice so far.”

Using photographic illusions of wild natural vistas, the new virtual skylights have transformed the Hospice’s complimentary therapy suite into a more spacious and memorable environment.

She added “I’d like to personally thank the Mike Findley MND Fund for donating this fantastic amount – the new virtual skylights are the perfect finishing touch to the hospice’s newly refurbished complementary therapy suite. They have created an atmosphere that is both welcoming and relaxing for patients, helping to alleviate any stress and anxiety and improving our patient’s overall experience and wellbeing.”
