PLANS to redevelop a Guisborough school are set to go ahead after concerns about car parking were addressed.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council wants to expand Galley Hill Primary School to cater for children likely to move into homes that are due to be built in the town.
One local resident told members of the council’s regulatory committee he was concerned about headlights shining into his home during the dark nights as cars came and went from the school’s new proposed car park.
John Harrison, who lives next to the school, said he had no problem with the school expanding but was concerned about the parking situation.
He said: “We are not objecting to the development of the school, it’s a school that’s going to grow. We certainly don’t want in any way to delay the development; we are just concerned about car lights shining into our home during the darker nights.”
Mr Harrison asked members if it would be possible to lower the car park and for the school to erect a fence to limit its impact on his home.
Members agreed to attach the recommendations to the application before approving the scheme for development.
