DAREDEVIL Scouts braved the heights of Middlesbrough’s iconic Transporter Bridge to fundraise for their world Jamboree.
A newly-formed Unit 33 group of Scouts and Explorer Scouts from North Yorkshire and County Durham braved the cold weather to abseil off the160ft tall bridge.
The sponsored abseil is the first of many activities that the youngsters came up with to raise money to get to the World Scout Jamboree which is being held in America next year.
Any Scout and Leader in the UK wanting to go to the Jamboree in Virginia needs to raise a whopping £3,500 each by next July.
Scouts from Ripon, Richmond and Durham all completed individual abseils including Leader Dave Baker from Topcliffe Scouts near Thirsk.
He said: “I am very proud of all the Scouts and Explorers from our unit who had the courage and support here today to be able to do the abseil off this bridge.
“I hope that they have all raised some good sponsorship through doing this activity which is all part of the Jamboree adventure.”
