PUBLIC consultation on a scheme to help tackle the so-called "Marton Crawl" in Middlesbrough has been extended.
Plans have been put forward by Middlesbrough Council for road widening and improved signalling works on A172 Dixons Bank and Stainton Way, known locally as the ‘Southern Cross’ junction.
The proposals are part of a wider package of measures unveiled by the Council last year to improve traffic flow across the town.
This proposed scheme would see widening of the existing carriageways on Dixons Bank and Stainton Way to provide two lanes on the northbound and eastbound approaches to the Southern Cross junction. The traffic lights will be upgraded with specialist software to improve their operation and the capacity of the junction to improve traffic flow.
The consultation period will now run until Sunday, March 18, and more residents will be consulted after they were sent letters before Christmas seeking their views on the plans.
