A SWORD, machete and taser have been seized from a house in Middlesbrough as investigations continue into a 'large-scale disturbance' in the town earlier this week.

Armed police were called out to the Springfield Hotel in the town, at about 8.30pm on Monday.

Cleveland Police said today they had recovered the weapons from a house in Macbean Street as a result of the alleged incident, and said inquiries were ongoing in relation to this.

Eight people were arrested on Monday and Tuesday and a 50-year-old man has now been released with no further action.

A further six people have been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

  • Police said a 21-year-old man Callum Hardman, of The Avenue in Nunthorpe, had been charged with assaulting a police officer and will appear before magistrates in Teesside on Wednesday, December 13. This alleged incident is unconnected to the weapons being found.
