A LARGE amount of painkillers have been stolen during a burglary on a chemist's overnight.

Police warn that the drugs - taken from Palladium Pharmacy in Eastbourne Road in the Linthorpe area of Middlesbrough - could prove fatal if taken together or with other drugs and alcohol.

The "substantial amount" of drugs taken include Gabapentin, Pregablin and Lorazepam.

A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said: "If taken incorrectly and in increased doses they could prove fatal - especially if taken together with other drugs and/or alcohol."

The drugs were all in pill form and boxed up in blister packs.
