WOMEN and children fleeing abuse will benefit from the thousands of pounds raised at a charity event.
More than £2,500 was raised to help domestic abuse charity My Sisters Place at its annual golf day on Friday, September 22.
Representatives from business across the North-East joined those at Darlington’s Blackwell Grange Golf Club for the Middlesbrough charity’s fundraising day.
MSP’s event co-ordinator Vicky Fisher said: “We rely on fundraising events and support from the public and businesses to keep our charity running.
“We help around 1,000 women a year who are suffering from domestic abuse and £2,500 is a fantastic amount for our small charity.
“It will go a long way to helping women and children around this area who are suffering from abuse.
“The support we receive is very heart-warming and very much appreciated.”
She added: “This year’s golf day was a huge success, apart from a little bit of rain all went to plan.
“We had a raffle, auction, the option to buy mulligans and a beat the pro competition.
“Team GB were the overall winners and went away with crystal trophies and golf clothing – all players went home with a keepsake keyring.”
