AN MP has used a visit to a college to call on more investment in jobs for young people.
Dr Paul Williams spent the day visiting Middlesbrough College as part of a tour around all the schools and colleges in and around his Stockton South constituency.
He was shown around the £20m Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths facility, and also met trainee bricklayers, joiners and electricians.
Dr Williams said: "We must train and educate our young people to give them the skills they need for work, but we must also ensure that there are available jobs, offering good salaries, for our enthusiastic future workforce.
"The Tees Valley Combined Authority must play its part to showcase the area to large scale employers and it must invest to support additional jobs in small businesses."
Zoe Lewis, principal at Middlesbrough College, said ‘It was wonderful to show new Stockton South MP around our campus.
"He showed a genuine interest in the young people and in the challenges we face in constantly adapting our education offer."
