DRUGS, cash and weapons were among the items seized by police during their summer Operation Steel Blue campaign.

Middlesbrough’s neighbourhood policing teams raided 17 addresses across the town between July 31 and September 1 in a bid to tackle drug dealing and the crime and antisocial behaviour .

Neighbourhood officers were supported over the weeks by plain clothed officers, colleagues from Dog Section and officers from the Community Drugs Enforcement Team.

Neighbourhoods Inspector Rob Jones said: “Residents were reporting that their lives were being blighted by drug dealing and other crime so, using information from the community to build on the intelligence officers had already gathered, we launched Operation Steel Blue.

“It’s been really successful and residents have definitely got on board with it. We’ve had lots of positive feedback with local people speaking to officers face to face and others posting supportive comments on the Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Police Team’s new social media pages."
