A MAN has appeared in court accused of attacking and attempting to rape a woman on her way to work.
The victim was left with serious injuries, including a broken nose and shoulder, following the attack on the morning of June 7, 2014.
The attack took place close to the A66 in North Ormesby, Middlesbrough.
Cezar Aldrei Florea, 29, is charged with grievous bodily harm, attempted rape and robbery.
Florea, whose address was listed at court as Grove Road, Middlesbrough, made his first appearance at Teesside Magistrates Court on Friday, July 7.
Wearing a white shirt, he appeared briefly in the dock where he spoke only to confirm his personal details.
He said he no longer resided in Middlesbrough and that he was from Romania.
He was remanded in custody ahead of an appearance at Teesside Crown Court expected to take place on August 4.
