A WOMAN has been charged with the death of an 84-year-old woman who was knocked over by a car in a shopping centre car park.

Olwyn Fulton, a mum-of-two and grandmother of ten, died at the scene of the collision at the Parkway Centre in Coulby Newham , Middlesbrough, on December 7.

In the days after the fatal crash, Cleveland Police said a 65-year-old woman had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.

An appeal for witnesses to the incident was launched as officers looked to discover exactly what happened.

A force spokeswoman confirmed a woman will appear in court next month.

She said: “A 66-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with death by careless driving today in connection with a fail-to-stop collision in the car park area of the Parkway Shopping Centre in Coulby Newham on Wednesday December 7.”

The woman, who has not yet been named, will appear at Teesside Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday June 7.
