A MAN has been rushed to hospital after slicing his leg with a power tool in an accident in his home.

The Great North Air Ambulance landed at Brambles Farm, Middlesbrough, at around 10.30am on Friday morning following the serious accident, believed to involve an angle grinder.

A spokesman said: "The GNAAS was called to assist the North East Ambulance Service with a man who was injured in an incident involving a power tool.

"The man, believed to be 59-years-old, was treated by the GNAAS doctor and paramedic team for a serious leg injury before being transferred to hospital by road, accompanied by the aircrew."

He was said to be in a stable condition on arrival at James Cook University Hospital.

A spokeswoman for North East Ambulance Service said: “We received a report at 10.36am on May 5 from the Brambles Farm estate in Middlesbrough.

“A rapid response vehicle and an ambulance were dispatched, and the air ambulance was requested.

“One patient was taken to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough with the air ambulance doctor on board.”
