Detective Sergeant Matthew Waterfield, from Middlesbrough Volume Crime Team, said: “In each instance, the drivers have left their engines running with the keys in the ignition and opportunist thieves have taken full advantage.

“I would urge other drivers not to leave their cars unattended with their engines running and would ask that anyone with information regarding these incidents contacts police.”
