A COMPETITION to find photographs of the iconic Infinity Bridge delivered some stunning results.

With around 500 photographs from 100 entrants to choose from the judges from Stockton Borough Council selected an atmospheric image of the bridge spanning the River Tees as the winner.

And it was Michelle Williams’ capture of the bridge against a moody sunset that saw her win VIP tickets to this weekend’s Stockton Calling Music Festival.

The image will also feature on the front cover of the May edition of the local authority’s residents’ magazine, Stockton-on-Tees News.

“I’m overwhelmed,” said Mrs Williams, an IT manager from Northumberland. “I’d like to dedicate the photograph to my late parents-in-law, Joe and Gwen Williams, who lived in Skelton. My husband, Alan, and I used to visit them often, heading down the A19 from Northumberland to Teesside. My mother-in-law died on Mother’s Day 2014 and my father-in-law in December 2015.

“I took the photograph on Mother’s Day. We’d been down and put some flowers on their grave and spent some time in Saltburn, and then on the way home I said that I wanted to go and see the Infinity Bridge and take some photographs.

“When we arrived it was such a lovely sight, and the sun was about to set. The colours in the sky lit up beautifully, and it was quite an emotional sight after the day we’d had.”

The winner was picked by the Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees, Councillor Maurice Perry.
