A RECYCLING centre serving Middlesbrough and Stockton has closed temporarily following a fire.
The Household Waste Recycling Centre at Haverton Hill was shut down following the suspected arson attack at 8am on Tuesday, March 14.
The blaze is believed to have damaged electrics and possibly the structure of the loading bays, although no-one was hurt in the incident.
The facility will remain closed while inspections and repairs are carried out.
A Middlesbrough Council spokesman said: “Following a small fire, the Household Waste Centre has been closed as a precautionary measure.
“We apologise for any inconvenience, and hope to have it open as normal as soon as possible.”
