A DEMONSTRATION will see Teessiders speak out in support of transgender Americans this weekend.
President Donald Trump has rolled back federal protections for transgender students in schools across the USA.
A initiative of former president Barack Obama that allowed students to use the bathrooms of their choice was revoked on Wednesday.
The organisers of an anti-Trump protest that took place in Middlesbrough earlier this month are now inviting people to join them in “speaking out in solidarity with our transgender brothers and sisters in America”.
A statement from Teesside United Against Hate added: “We encourage everyone from all communities to come out because this is not a politics issue, it’s a human rights issue.”
The demonstration will take place from 1pm at Centre Square in Middlesbrough on Sunday, February 26.
