A NEW series of guided walks will introduce people to the heritage of the River Tees.
The free walks have been organised by the River Tees Rediscovered initiative, which aims reconnect the people of Teesside with the river that runs through it.
Supported by the National Lottery, the project is developing the area through conservation work and community activities.
The series of guided walks have been devised to introduce people to the network of paths and tracks used by the community across the centuries.
A riverside ramble from the Tees Barrage in Stockton to Newport Bridge and back will set off from the south tower of the barrage, off Navigation Way, on Tuesday, February 21 at 9.30am.
Chris Corbett, River Tees Rediscovered Community and Access Officer, said: “We will be looking at the profound influence that people have had on this stretch of the river and the way in which nature has made a spectacular comeback.”
To book a place on the walk, call 01642 616144 or email christine.corbett@groundwork.org.uk.
