STAFF from North-East based furniture retailer Barker and Stonehouse have raised further funds for a young boy who hopes to receive specialist treatment abroad on a rare brain tumour.

The workers wore Christmas jumpers, hosted cake sales and held sweepstakes, raising £650, which was then doubled by the firm’s management.

The £1,300 total is being split between the Finley Ingles fund and national charity Save the Children.

In November it was announced that the fund for Finley, from Marton, Middlesbrough, had reached £200,000 following several large donations.

He suffers from a Hypothalamic Harmatoma and his family hope to send him to the US for laser surgery to remove the deep brain tumour.

Last year staff at Barker and Stonehouse decided to organise three weeks of Americana-themed events to help raise money for Finley, including an American-style bake-off.

About 150 staff took part in the latest efforts.
