CHILDREN from across Middlesbrough will have their festive artwork featured in a new display being unveiled at the town’s Sports Village.

More than 100 youngsters entered a competition run by Middlesbrough Council asking for a new design and colour for Santa’s hat.

All 38 shortlisted children will see their works on display, while the winning boy and girl will be honoured with a place in Santa’s sleigh in the town’s Reindeer Parade taking place on Sunday.

Middlesbrough Mayor Dave Budd said: “Everyone who entered should be proud of themselves and I hope the winners enjoy taking part in the Reindeer Parade in Santa’s Sleigh. I’m sure they’ll enjoy this rare opportunity to be at the heart of one of our most popular celebrations.”

As well as the Reindeer Parade in the town centre from 3pm, the Christmas Lights Switch On will take place at 5pm in Centre Square.
